Life Chosen

Well, it happened on August 30... the event I wrote about in my last post. And what a wonderful time it was! I have been writing that life is 10% circumstance and 90% attitude, and this event was all about attitude. Cultivating a positive attitude. My documentary was screened for the first time, and people GOT IT. Choosing life, or, rather, choosing to live life, a good, joyful, productive life.

We had about 150 people in attendance and the feedback was gratifyingly positive. The phrase "Choose life so that you will live" is biblical in origin. It is from Deuteronomy and its meaning runs very deep and goes right to my core. Life On The Bridge carrries that theme throughout the film.

I created a multi-faceted program with a Rabbi discussing biblical and rabbinic wisdom related to the theme of the day, a psychologist offering tools to help manage life's challenges and lastly, the screening of the film. The first speaker was the renowned Los Angles Rabbi Elliot Dorff, who spoke on the religious and historical roots of Choosing Life, and detailed the modern-day rationale for making that choice. Next, Dr. Leonard Felder, shown below (Rabbi Dofff behind him), spoke on the psychological implications and practical applications in a very warm, personal, and touching manner.

Since my film largely spoke for itself, my remarks were confined to addressing the making of the film, and future plans for its (meaning its message) reaching a broad audience... both the general public and university/hospital programs.

So there are a lot of things going on in the coming months. I'll be updating you about all of it. There is a VERY BIG HAPPENING, coming in November, and I will tell you all about that in my next post. Stay tuned!
